Your comfort and convenience is of paramount importance
to us during your stay at the Patterdale. The licensed
bar specialises in local ales and evenings can be spent
enjoying the wonderful views towards the lake from the
West Lounge, where on chillier nights you can relax
in-front of a cosy log fire. Spend the day relaxing
at the hotel and indulge in a tasty bar lunch or afternoon
tea taken on the lawn – weather permitting of
course! For the slightly more adventurous the hotel
reception will be pleased to provide guides for local
walks or take your order for a picnic.
Those of you with an energetic streak can hire a mountain
bicycle, also from reception, complete helmets and
locks for safety and security and panniers for your
snacks or lunch. Fishing enthusiasts may fish for brown
trout and perch on Ullswater. A fact sheet with information
on licences, the trout season and where to buy bait
and tackle locally are available from the hotel Reception.
Fell walkers are in an ideal location for an early start
after breakfast. The hotel is a perfect place to begin
a variety
of walks requiring different levels of experience
and strength. Choose from the beauty of the falls at
Aira Force or the challenge of Striding Edge and Helvellyn.
Whichever, at the end of the day the Patterdale will
welcome you back with a friendly greeting and the wonderful
aroma of dinner in preparation…. and we even provide
washers, dryers and boot storage so as to ensure you
will be ready for tomorrow’s day out.
